Houghton Road Bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad

STATUS: In Construction

The design for Houghton Road: Bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) is complete and Pulice Construction was selected as the contractor.

Construction started in March 2017, and is expected to take approximately two years to complete. This project consists of replacing the existing bridge with two bridges that will accommodate three lanes of traffic, bike lanes and sidewalks in each direction.

This bridge project is being constructed in two phases. Phase one is complete.

The first phase kept traffic on the existing bridge, while a new bridge was being constructed (three lanes) next to the existing bridge. Once this new bridge was completed in early February 2018, traffic was shifted over to the new bridge.

The second phase, currently in progress, includes demolishing the existing bridge and building another bridge (three lanes) where the old bridge was located. When this work is completed, traffic will be redirected to use both bridges. One bridge will be for northbound traffic, and the other will be for southbound traffic.

A public meeting was held on March 2, 2017. Meeting summary
